The three-day walk began about 7 a.m. at the Plano Centre, and participants were lined up on Central Expressway, which was backed up to Spring Creek Parkway. During the opening ceremonies, a ring of cancer survivors joined hands in the center of the crowd and raised banners bearing the words “belief” and “hope.”
Organizers of the Dallas/Fort Worth Breast Cancer 3-Day were expecting about 2,900 participants, each of whom had to raise at least $2,300. Last year, the event raised $7.9 million.
