I have many plants in my yard and a few days after the hurricane Ike, came through this beautiful rose, was blooming and so were many other flowers in my yard………wouldn’t it be nice if things this pretty would stay around and be this beautiful longer? 
I can always count on these two to bloom for me, even when the others don’t.

My Orchids Are………
I’ve had this orchid about a year and this is the second time it has bloomed. Actually, it was blooming when I bought it. 
It only has 4 blooms, compared to the time I bought it, it had many on it. There are several new stems growing and soon, I will need to separate it and divide the plants. This is scary, because I have lost plants, trying to divide them in previous times. Especially African Violets, they are so easy to kill and so delicate. Ineed to get an African Violet, again and start some more new plants.

Evacuatees Brought To Mesquite
Many people were brought to our area to be processed in and then sent on to a shelter, to stay for a few days, until they were told it was safe to go back home.
The one’s who had transportation, tried to go back home to investigate the damage, but have been turned away. Authorities, say the area is unsafe and unhealthy at the present.

Tropical Storm Ike
By the time Ike got up in our area, of the state, it was a tropical storm. The winds weren’t too bad and the rains were Classifieds “>welcome. If you notice the picture above showing the top of a house, it has a wind turbine. That thing is loud and noisy, when the winds are up. It wasn’t very loud during this storm, because the winds only topped out at 35mph in the wind gusts.
My peach tree is very tender, with new Classifieds “>growth and the limbs bent easily to the wind gusts.
This yard art, caught the wind……moving it’s wings very fast. I used this in my veggie garden during Classifieds “>growing season, to scare the birds away. There were 2 of them. One met a bad fate when a lawnmower passed over it. To save this one I put it in one of my flowers, that are hanging, out in the backyard.

Mindful Living
Today’s life and world has become so hectic and stressful, that we tend to try to keep up with it by running full blast at daily tasks. We need to be more relaxed and basically “stop and smell the roses”. It’s a time to get the most of living that we can, and enjoy our life to the fullest. There is a TV program by Dr. Kathleen Hall, which gets you back on track with her Mindful Living TV Network programs. You can have the mindfulness to help others transform their lives or change the world. Dr. Hall suggests, that you play more to keep your mind alert and busy. Also gratitude helps you feel better, and helps your mind work in a different realm. Be sure to laugh as much as possible and be helpful to others. Make aging fun, not sad and do things with others to get the fun back into your life. Gardening is something that’s rewarding and fun. Watching your plants grow, is one of the most fun things I can think of.

I Have Lost…..
There two good blogs, that have been tossed by PPP and now I worry that there won’t be any left to work with, when they get through culling out the bad blogs. I’ve tried so hard to make my blogs attention getter’s and they have gotten very strict. I think they should allow us to use the blogs that they approved to begin with. This blog has been on their website since January, I hope the keep it around.

Flowers Blooming
A blogger, who I check on occasionally , said she thinks this is a member of the Venus Fly Trap. It’s blooming and has other buds on it growing to mature flower size. I still haven’t had anyone tell me what the actual name is of it.
I have to get a picture of this plant when it blooms, because people think it’s something other than a Hibiscus………imagine that? I have 5 blooms on it today, tomorrow they’ll all be closed and I’ll have to wait for another bloom to open.
